Each month is a great one at The Exchange … but for us May is particularly special! Each May the store’s proceeds from the last year go out into the world to do good work! This year our gift to the community is $650,000, which is the largest in our history!
This year’s 73 agencies do the important work of serving the most vulnerable in our community. They care for the sick; feed the hungry; shelter the homeless; provide safe haven for survivors of human trafficking; improve lives through education; and offer safe shelter for victims of domestic violence. You will very likely see well-known groups whose work is familiar to you. You will also see the names of non-profits about which you are not familiar. Each and every one of them is doing life-changing work for those on the margins; and we are proud to support their work.
Many shoppers these days find it increasingly important to patronize businesses that make a positive impact on their community. Our history of giving dates back to 1959, when after one year in business the St. Michael’s Woman’s Exchange gave away $2,200. Almost 66 years later and with cumulative giving exceeding $12 million we are still going strong!
